Pianist Albert Marquès and trumpeter Rachel Therrien have captured their spontaneous chemistry as two genre-bending artists whose friendship and musical dialogue have evolved over more than a decade.

Brooklyn-based Albert Marquès is a pianist and composer born in Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain) in 1986. Marquès is known for his groundbreaking music project Freedom First with writer and poet Keith LaMar, who has spent 33 years in solitary confinement on death row in Ohio for a crime he did not commit. Freedom First is the first album in history by an artist on death row. Marquès continues to tour the U.S., Latin America and Europe to packed audiences, with LaMar performing live by phone from death row. Marquès has been featured in The New York Times, El Pais, NPR, Rolling Stone, People Magazine, Time Out, Le Figaro and press from all over the world. More at albertmarques.com.

Quebec-native Rachel Therrien is an award-winning trumpeter, composer, and bandleader celebrated for her bold sound and stylistic versatility. A mainstay of the international jazz scene, she leads and performs in acclaimed ensembles touring regularly across North America, Europe, and beyond form her base in Brooklyn. She has earned a GRAMMY nomination for her work with the Arturo O’Farrill Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, and JUNO Award nominations for her own music as well as super-group, The Ostara Project.
