Bio

The Regina Jazz Society is a not-for-profit organization that has been promoting Jazz in Regina beginning in 1977 and became incorporated as a Non-Profit Corporation in 1989.  Our mandate is to encourage, to promote, and to provide a forum for the appreciation of the diversity of jazz music for musicians and enthusiasts alike.  Art rooted in, and created by, arts professionals from culturally diverse, Deaf, disability, and official language minority communities must also necessarily be included, as well.

Our mandate is also to be open to developing and supporting Canadian creative works, groups, individuals, single activities, or series for public presentation. Most importantly, we intend to encourage, promote, and provide a forum for the presentation of new musical works.  This is also to include and support written documents such as books, as well as, participating or assisting in the creation, project development, production post production and presentation of any such creative and artistic additions to the art form and culture of jazz and their dissemination and distribution.

In December 2019, the Regina Jazz Society brought together 20 of the finest players either born, raised, or currently living in Saskatchewan to perform beautiful original compositions by Fred Stride. The Saskatchewan Suite recording resulted from that momentous concert.
