Baritone Madness
Released Sep 13 2019
Baritone Madness was formed by Keith O’Rourke, Gareth Bane and Pat Belliveau in February of 2016 and was an instant hit with Calgary audiences. The first concert featured the music of Gerry Mulligan along side of the music of other legendary Baritone Saxophonists, such as Pepper Adams, Hamiett Bluiett, and also highlighting the compositions of the coleaders. Subsequent concerts have been equally well received and the band has expanded their song book to include standards associated with other baritone saxophonists that were known for their interpretations of the classic repertoire. Concerts are an irreverent mixture of music and stories about the music and the musicians that play it. They have become a can’t miss event in many jazz fans’ calendars.
“Love the rendition of Moanin’ they start off with… Always been a big fan of that track and immediately recognizable” – Troy, Music Director, CFUV (Victoria, BC).
“Love baritone sax and this CD, played Moanin’ and Remembering the Aramo last week. Love hometown jazz, too” – Host of Fresh Snow on CILU (Thunder Bay, ON).
